A retrospective look at the Janoura Residence
-Max Strang
[Sophisticate] a “tropical modern” aesthetic akin to the exclusivity of the Janoura Residence, while understating the general shape, form, and size.
- Pronounced by depth.
- Minimized in its grandeur.
- Framed through crafty symmetry.
Deep overhangs and delicate detailing using a smooth fly-ash concrete finish define this Miami Beach home. Situated on an island lot with privatized and protected views of the water, the site and climatic considerations resulted in a design that provides breezes and ample sunlight for the outside living areas. Transparency and privacy are carefully balanced as the home offers an intriguing, yet inviting, appearance from the street.
- Kala Barbra-Court, PLAIN Magazine
An elongated stone step-way leads to a formal entrance while allowing subtle hints of the water beyond. The kitchen, living and bar areas are combined into one large public space that flows easily onto a covered terrace overlooking the pool while the dining room has been slightly privatized with its own unique view of the lush landscaping that surrounds the home. Upstairs, the master suite has a large landscape ecosystem that dominates the bedroom and master bathroom view.
