A retrospective look at the Davis Road Residence
[Balance] a modern farmhouse in South Miami with connection to the site’s context.
- A layout used to create both a front and rear courtyard.
- Views from each room to the immersive and lush landscaping.
- Use of natural materials such as wood and oolite to anchor to its surroundings.
Located in South Miami, the Davis Road Residence was designed as a luxury, modern farmhouse residence that elevates the South Miami lifestyle. Set amongst the oaks, the home’s “H” shape creates a front and rear courtyard that gives all spaces of the home intrigue. The two bars of the home are connected by a glass element allowing the lot to feel unified. An oolitic keystone entry wall anchors the home while the bedrooms are setback on the second floor and wrapped in wood, warming the home. The open gable roof with modern elements gives this home a unique architectural style for the area.
