Envisioned as a retreat from the city life of Miami, this South Florida home was about creating a space that took advantage of natural light and materials. The clients ought a modern, natural-feeling home that embraced indoor-outdoor living and celebrated the essence of the Keys. A large outdoor entertaining area was essential. Light tones, openness, and natural materials were key—everything needed to support a sense of well-being, and togetherness. Their goal was a sanctuary where they could gather as a family and enjoy life’s simple pleasures in a sophisticated but relaxed setting. The spatial organization was rooted in the client’s lifestyle: public and entertaining areas on the main level, private functions upstairs. Entry and outdoor zones are celebrated with architectural gestures and materials that encourage flow and exploration. We curated a refined palette of light and neutral tones to elevate the home’s natural brightness and positive energy. Raw materials like exposed formed concrete, poured concrete floors, rough-cut keystone, and warm oak paneling were paired with soft natural textiles to balance strength with warmth. Everything was chosen to evoke calm, comfort, and a sense of groundedness in the landscape.
